How hard is it to unbolt the dash in these cars? I need to pull mine out so I can swap it.

It kind of a pain in the butt since there are bolt behind the vents on the driver and passenger side and they're difficult to get to. But other than that it's really no big. I would definitely advise having 2 pairs of hands taking it out though so that you don't rip anything out.

I have done alot of different dashes at the body shop, the mustang is not that bad, just time consuming, make sure you have some swivels and the flex head blackhawk ratchet wrenches make life alot easier.

Kornnut, the swap is a PITA but it's manageable. Beyond what's in the Corral thread, I recommend removing the seats and the shifter. Less stuff to get in the way when you remove the dash. I would also highly recommend you get a friend to help you remove the dash, it's heavy and you don't have much room to work in.

I suggest you get a can of electrical contact cleaner for when you reassemble the dash. The aluminum contacts in the connectors oxidize over time, and the cleaner will remove it. Best to to clean them now, rather than chase down electrical gremlins due to a oxidized connector.

I'd also recommend disassembling the ventilation hoses in the new dash before you install it. Who knows what's in there? Hate to install a new dash and find out it smells when you turn on the A/C. Clean it all out.

I removed the dash in my GT after I got it, the whole interior reeked of cigarette smoke. The vents and all the hoses behind the dash were all layered in tar - eww! Some good cleaning and it was all good.
