I haven't made a thread here in forever.....but I'm looking at shopping for a new stang soon.

Any advice on dealing with dealers. I hate going to look and haggle. I always do really good....I go in with notes on blue book values, I pre-calculate payments based on increments of 500 bucks with pre-researched interest rates, etc. And I only except the absolute best deal I can suck from them.

But it takes freakin HOURS! They always want to run a credit check, blah blah blah...before they even talk prices. THe stangs I'm looking at are a little more than I want to spend, so only way I'll buy is if I get a good deal. Any way to get them to talk prices before going thru all that other crap?

Plus the one dealer I'm looking at.....they have a nice 04 black 5spd unmolested GT.....an 03 Cobra...and a Mach I. Even though I'd be going for the GT....might as well test drive all them right

If you havent talked prices yet and they want to go through all the time consuming stuff, just make it very clear that if you cant get a price set, your walking. I'm sure they'll turn around real quick.

How come you sold your yellow '04 GT?? If your gonna test drive the Cobra and Mach, I can't imagine you being able to settle for the GT. If your not gonna mod the GT, then buy the GT. If your gonna mod the GT, you might as well skip the GT and go right for the 4V Mach or Cobra.

Not gonna be much help there, dealers always try to talk me into V6's (maybe cause I'm a girl???) at which point I say nevermind and leave, haha. I say if the Mach and or Cobra are reasonably priced, skip the GT altogether, tho.
Good luck with it Doc...

I sold the yellow cuz it was a lemon...had a rattle that wouldn't go away, despite new heads and 5 dealer visits.

THe black GT is an 04 with 30k for 16k.

The Cobra has 40k for 23k....very good deal
The Mach is about the same deal....might as well go Kewbra.

I can afford the payments on the Cobra, but that's a very big difference. We want to have kids in about a year and I don't want to screw myself down the road and commit to 2 large car payments with this darn Explorer....plus our boat. Trust me...after driving a Hyundai 4cyl....I miss my GT with Mac exhaust so bad!!!! Plus the power was good with me, I want to mod the suspension anyways.

Dont drive the Cobra, you wont want to come home with the GT... lol.

Good luck, there are some great dealerships to deal with, just be careful though.

I wish I had a 4500 down payment. I have a trade-in, but its worth what I owe. The payment on my current car is like 240....I don't want to go above 350....so with no down payment, I think I'm stuck with a GT.

Probably right though, better off not driving that Cobra or Mach, it'll just depress me.
