I have a 95 GT with an crap AODE. I am debating on doing the T-5 swap. First, is it worth it? Second, anyone got any pointer/details/directions on the swap? Didnt see anything on the FAQs. Also, will this require a new computer?

yes, unless your going w/ a preformance auto like a lentech, or c4 for racing duty. as a former crapmatic driver, this was the best money I spent. car feels 10x stronger, dynoed a whole 60 horses an 70 ft lbs over the auto.
an it feel like a muscle car, when you row through the gears an the rpm climbs to the redline..its a rush for the driver to have control over the powerband..

as far as materials needed, a t-5 computer is better, but the car can work w/ the auto computer, it jus not as smooth. as the computer is still trying to fight the trannie for possesion of the powerband.. a fox gen a9l cpu is btweer jus casue its more aggressive. or you can do the whole diablo, superchip tweecer thing an get even more perfomcance.

hardcore racers will tell ya an auto is more precise, but i'm sayin its jus fun as hell to row through the gears in a 5/6-spd mustang..ain't nothin like it in the world imo.

My take on the stick or auto thing is what do YOU want. Lets be very plain here ...... Do you want to shift your car when you drive around town or not???

I've had the full tilt c4 trans/high stall conv on a street car and still ...... its just not the same experience of driving around town with a stick trans.

Never will be!

^ Probably because they all debated between swap or build. And they chose swap.

Dude, no one is going to be able to tell you whether or not the swap is worth it...Do you want to shift or do you want to just put it in drive and go? For sure the AOD-E is a parasite. However properly built with the right stall, valvebody/shift kit and strengthen parts it will be bullet proof and depending on how you choose to build it, you may have the option of putting in a valvebody that you can manually shift 1-2-3 and then also just put it in drive and cruise. Use the search button, somewhere on here RC has a thread and numerous posts of a tranny guy he talked to and he listed all the parts needed to make the AOD-E nasty.

If you're going to do the swap, dont drop in the T-5 tranny... Pick out something that is better and can handle more power because you'll need it anyways in the future.
