I pulled the engine, had it rebuilt and trying to decode the block, is it possible that it’s the original or no? From what I could research, it looks to be a 1979 block,,??

According to the casting number, you are correct. That is a '79 block.

What are the differences between the 1978 302 and the 1979? Are there any?
