i dont need a rebuild just wanting to do some technical reading on the ohc motors
like how the tappits work were the oil pump is how the timing chains work how much slack they should have the process for changing cams were the torque to yeild bolts that strech when used and can not be reused are how far up are the rings on the pistons thanks

ps any one know of good books
pss any 1 know how to get a cheep or free copy of the ford manuels on cd thanks

Although the book is now aged, there is a book written by Sean Hyland. Although it is entitled something like "The 4.6 Ford Modular Engine" it covers the 5.4's as well. The copy I have is aged, so it does not cover the 3V engines, but there might now be a revised edition.

I would google up something like 4.6 Sean Hyland.
