coming along, i just got out of the shop a little while ago. i want to try to start it this weekend or next, we'll see

My whole engine is painted black, as well ... with 20+ years of oil and road grime.

Seriously, though, I dig the black intake. Good job on the detailing, too.

Best thing I've found for using under the hood on rubber and plastic stuff is any kind of GEL tire shine. Seems to last a bit longer than the spray-on tire shine stuff, and after awhile all you have to do is just wipe the stuff clean with a rag instead of coating everything again with the shine stuff - makes cleaning up the engine bay a snap.

brakleen will get pretty much anything off too from oil and road grime to 20 year old undercoating. ask me how i know

have any of you guys had any luck with painting the fan shroud? a guy here did it but he used gloss paint, im looking for more a stock flat look.

yeah using brakleen magically scrapes, welds, and bondos your engine bay, then builds and drops your engine in.
