the rubber piece on the door that wipes the window as it goes up and down.

I think it will require some alteration due to the door shape and size. I know I had to modify door panels to go on. And the wipes are different for 87-90 I think in 91 is when they went to the dog ear mirror

Nope, size and mirrors were diff. A 93 door is different than that of a 87-89. And I believe the 86 doors are diff.

what exactly did you modify about the door panel to go on? you sure it was because the door is different and not just because the old door panels can be a PITA to get lined up properly, esp where they hang across the top edge?

it is my experience that there is nothing different about any door 79-93 except for mirror style and the belt molding. 79-86 mirrors are boxy, 87-93 are smoother, and mirrors are meant to fit the appropriate belt molding. i know this because i have put 92 doors on an 88. they are all the same.

main differences between 79-93 doors coupe and hatchback

79-8? : inside door handle is at the bottom of the door.

82-86: structure and appearance the same as 79-8? doors but have the inner door handle towards the top of the door.(79-8? doors can be used but have to cut hole out for use of top mounted inner door handle) ,armrest mounting points are the same. no speaker holes. 85-86 side mouldings are different from 79-84. the 85-86 are a little thinner.

87-93: structure is the same as 79-93 but with a few more differences. dew wipes will not interchange.( mouldings are bigger to match the 1/4 windows <== main reason why people think they wont work on 79-86 cars. all you have to do is weld the holes and filler, prime and paint to match) ,speaker holes were made. armrest mounting points changed. mirrors are different from 79-86. door side mouldings are different from gt and lx (obvious lol)

all 79-93 doors use the same run channel weatherstripping (part that the window rides on inside the door frame) glass is all the same, power door locks motors are all the same, window motors are all the same as with the power window tracks.

so basically all 79-93 doors will interchange there are just some modifications to be done to make it fit your year car

79 only had the handle at the bottom of the door...forgot about that...but i was just unclear as to what was modified...but structurally they will interchange, trim was just different
