Ive finally reached the point of no more mods. All the way from cai to gear swap except an offroad midpipe which I'll be doing before long. I havent gotten a speedcal yet but i would spend about $160 for it plus the mils. Partshopper has the diablo chip for $229 and the Programmer for $429. Should i get the chip programmed for everything and save some money or get the programmer. Not really crazy about spending $400 but I'll wait on some opinions.

I'm looking for a prochamber but thanks anyway. The chips are only $229 so thats still cheaper than the programmers on ebay. I'm also not really that interested in getting all that serious with learning the programmers either.

I believe you will have to spend about another 100 in addition to the 229 to have the chip programed for your gears and other mods. I'm trying to figure out what to get too because I have an x pipe coming and dont want to purchase the mil's and i plan on getting gears next.

you can do alot more with the tuner.
you can change your fuel, and timing, adjust for gears, take out trouble codes...
and it also can log data.

it sounds like you want to get just the chip. you don't have to learn how to use it and, if you're not going to be modding your car any more, you shouldn't need a predator to continually tweak your computer. besides, the chip is a good deal cheaper. just remeber that, when you buy a mail order chip, you're getting a stock program based on what you've told them about your car. there's no way that it can really be custom tuned without putting your can on a dyno and working out all the bumps. for the $450 that it takes to get a custom chip and have it dynoed, that's what i'd do if it was my decision to make.

buy the chip used from someone....go to a diablo tuner and put the car on the dyno and let them fine tune your car. They can do more than you can. The most the tune will cost is $75 for dyno time, one hour, and $50 to reprogram the chip. That way you will have your tune done down to the tee and come out cheaper and more efficient in the process. Take the guy above for $150...that way you have $275 total and a great tune

You can do all this with a chip as well, not just a tuner.

I have the DiabloSport chip and I love it. It really smoothed out the engine and gave me a few extra ponies . My g/f got one in her car not to long ago and saw some really nice improvements as well.

the chip has to be reburned correct?
the tuner lets you adjust it when ever you want... just hook it up and just +- a percent of fuel and/or timing.

Yes the chip does need to be reburned, but there arent many guys out there that need their daily driver tweaked +/- a few degrees timing every few days. I could see owning a tuner if you had a serious race car, or a s/c car with a ton of boost. That way you could use the tuner to advance/retard timing with the different octanes of gas, but other than that I dont see the point in them for daily drivers. My .02c

i see your point. the reason i got the tuner is because i have a wide band o2 and figure i can dial it in pretty close myself.

im sure their standard tune is pretty good, but they cant take in effect for every mod you have done or are going to do.
