I was driving down the road the other day when suddenly the air started to smell different, and it stopped blowing cold. The next morning I had planned to try recharging it myself, but it was blowing cold again, but by the end of the day it was back out. I again planned to recharge it but when I connected the gauge the needle was in the red.

What's the next step in diagnosing the problem? Is this possibly something I can fix myself, or am I going to have to bite the bullet and take it to a shop?

ALWAYS start every AC problem by first:
  • Cleaning the AC coil and radiator.
  • Double check that all fan shrouds and air dams are in the factory locations.
  • Double checking that all fans (inside and outside) are working.
Then start the trouble shooting.
