Did anyone watch the discovery channel on 9/29 on racing the '05??

They didn't exactly give alot of specs about anything. I thought it was boring except for the track footage.
The comparsion didn't mean much of anything to me since they gave no specs.
Was the 99 a stock Cobra motor? If so big deal. The new one would have a 50% HP advantage and had to edge out the 99 in a front straight drag race.
Maybe if they gave some specs then comparisons could be made.

I watched it last night. Thought the paint was kinda plain.

Yeah whites not my favorite. hey andy shouldnt you be in school? The wheels looked good though.

IMO: I found the show actually good, no matter how the cars performed, I like mustangs no matter whats done to them performance wise, racing is racing in my book. It was actually on 9/28 not 9/29, my bad

STILL NEED 94-04 or 87-93 pro-kit eibach 6 & 4 cyl springs

Im still looking for:

1994 to 2004 Eibach Pro-Kit Springs FORD, Mustang Coupe, 6 Cyl., Exc. Convertible
#3518.140.

I know I can get them new etc.. but dont feel like putting on springs that cost almost as much as the car :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

i dunno what you guys are worried about...

WHITE's THE BESTEST BEST COLOR EVER

White cars with cages kick ass. So did the show. Far from boring. An indepth look at Multimatic's shop and engineering capabilities. Keep in mind that 99 Cobra has six years worth of R&D and race experience. The 05' was "off the trailer". Hopefully Ford will back the car in Speed GT/Grand AM.

....hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???

:D

Man, it sucks to be in a dorm with no tv because I can't see stuff like this. :(

Merc331, you'd enjoy the scene down here. The engineering dept. recently crashed their Z06 GPS project car (where it drives itself via GPS) because someone turned the front crash sensors off (which sense if there is an object in front of it), so it just ran right into a building. Nice!

I watched it last night while spending some much needed quality time on Stangnet in between commercials.
BTW... It's a race car so who cares what color it is as long as it goes like hell!? Who ever can afford the car will also be able to afford to order it in whatever color they want.
It was pretty fast just in testing apparently. It did look mean and sounded even better. Had a 32 Valve motor in it. Hopefully I'll see it at SEMA in November!

You got a DVD player in your PC? I could be persuaded to burn an extra copy for ya, and send it out next week.........

I saw the show, i thought it was pretty cool, made me wish i could afford one. Rumor around the ford dealerships is that Landmark has three 05 mustangs, but they are all wraped up and the can't take them out untill Ford says so, i don't know when we will get one here, hope fully we will soon, we got a new five hundred in, its kinda sharp looking. Later all!

I still stand by my thoughts of the show, the car I don't have a problem with. Here's why.
6 years of R&D on the 99. What does that mean? What does it have? What's stock, what's not? Was it built to the same class specs as the new one? What tires? Same size tires even? Same weight? They don't say.
I've had my car developed over the last 6 years also does that mean it's ideal?
None of this was given in the show.

Second, engineering. All I saw were coil over shocks and the classic mustangs tuning tool of of lower the ass end. Maybe that's why all the factory mustangs have their nose in the air?
They didn't give anything more than a quick shot of any of the systems and suspension and zero specs.
I would have loved to see what they choose to do and why. Like were those dual fuel tanks in the stock location?
Was the suspension changed in any way with regards to pickup points, control arm lengths, bushing or rod ends, sway bars, ect..

For me that would have really made the show more than watching NASCAR guy in his street clothes with no helmet out screwing around.

Nothing against the car at all and it was cool to see the race car being developed with factory backing.
But the show didn't really say why any one thing was a better way of doing it and why it might be faster. Just that they hoped it would be.

That show was great!!! For a 1 hours show they crammed a lot of info into it.
You have to think, Ford is not going to let all the spec/build info out. If they are really building it for a Factory race car, ie Viper comp coupe, 350Z club racer, Porsche GT3 your going to hide a lot of the development data. I hope this car will happen. Dodge, Nissan, & Porsche all offer race cars ready to go from the factory. The Cobra R cars have been cool, but nothing at the level of this car.
The show stated that the 05 was built from the get go suspension wise with this in mind. Ford the last couple years has made changes in the development program for new cars. The new Taurus aero styling were done with the involvement of the Ford Racing and Ford's Nascar teams.
It looks like Ford may be coming around. Maybe we will see Ford GT's at Le Mans this year!
I don't have the money for one, but its about time. If that happens, I bet they will come in white only.

i doubt anyone would use a Ford GT for racing... with only 300 of them made i would think twice before racing...

daily driving on the other hand :nice:

I saw the show and that car is a race only car. Had a DOHC engine, probably the 5.0 Cammer. Sure looked good going going around the track though.

THey had a special on the Ford GT on tonight. That is sweet going around the track vs a Ferrari Modena. You could hear the supercharger whine just like the Cobras. Guess I'll have to settle for my "poor man's Ford GT" for now.
