DID AODE TO TKO-600 SWAO, NOW CAR RUNS LIKE ....

I just did a AODE to TREMEC TKO-600 swap. I purchased the complete kit from a company. (came with new computer). Now the car runs so rich I cannot drive it. Loading up on so much fuel. Also speedometer reads 100 mph when I am going 30 mph. Check engine light is on, and my code scanner won't pull the codes. I am a certified TOYOTA service tech, so I am leaning toward a bad computer!?!? ANY help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I did not use the speed sensor harness on the tailshaft. I used the one further up the tranny on the driver side (also using 5-speed harness), and the neutral safety switch does not work, (albe to start without pressing the clutch cable).

well, the speedo issue is the wrong gear. what rear gears do you have? the tremec transmissions for fords come with a speedo gear for the stock ratio. the other stuff could be the eec. which one is it? it should be a T4M0 if it is the manual eec from a 94-95 GT. give us a bit more info on your combo as well. that will make it that much easier for us to help you out. welcome to stangnet by the way.

also if you are trying to read codes from that plug under the dash on the drivers side you wont get anything. it was only functional on the v6's i belive. to read our codes you need the scanner that plugs into the port in the engine bay on the passenger side near the firewall.

if you didnt swap out computers it will pull timing and cause the car to feel sluggish when the computer wants the automatic to shift

Also make sure they didn't give you an 89-93 computer (A9L) instead of the 94-95 (T4M0) computer, as they aren't totally compatible without a few wiring changes.

This is actually my buddies car, I will need to check the number on the ECU. He bought the complete swap kit from a popular company, (advertised in mustang magazines) came with manual 94-95 ecu. This is a "plug and play" kit. As for the rear gear, just the factory 3.27. Also, tried to pull codes from diagnostic port under hood.

Hey Guys new member.

The car in question is mine. Thanks Larry for all of your help! The set up on my car is not extreme at all(equal length headers, x pipe(offroad), flowmasters, cobra upper lower w/65 MM TB, stock MAFS, 119 lph pump, new FMS 9 mm wires, new coil and cap and rotor and not much else). It ran fine with the AODE so I'm hoping it's just the ECU. I tried to start the car today and it won't start at all now. All I smell is gas. I tried to put the AAODE ECU back in hoping that it would just start. It didn't. I am going to call tomorrow to see if they will send me another processor. I will also see if my bud will let me swap in his. I won't screw up his will I? Hope not! Please help or I won't have any choice but to call it a BIG POS! and move on. I hate that I have spent all this cash and have a yard ornament.

you can get a chip burnt for your AODE ECU to get that to work correctly. i also suspect they may have sent you a fox ECU

Got problem fixed. It was a bad computer.. thanks to all who read/responded to this message...

And it what sense was it a "bad" computer? More specifically what was wrong.
