I have included a picture of the tie rods on my car. I had these replaced by a shop, but it seems like they only replaced one... the other one looks stock to me.

Good

Bad

Am I right? Thanks for the help, I dont want to go accuse anyone of anything before I know what I'm talking about.

Just a thought when you have a shop do work. Always ask for your old parts. That way, when they show them to you, it is a safer bet that a "new" one was put in it's place. They might have junk-yarded a tie rod end for the one in question.

Confront the shop about it. If they were supposed to replace the pair and they only replaced the one then they should replace the other. Also make sure they re-align it.

I guess I will do that. Im just afraid that he will be a dick and give some excuse, like the work was done 2 months ago, or something stupid.

I would take it back and tell them to do it correctly or you will report them to the local news station, And the Better business bureau... They will fix that right away... You can clearly see they didnt replace the outer tie rod end.
You still have your receipt for the work and parts they charged you for right..

Good idea, since the second picture is of a worn out stock tie rod.

jeez is that expensive. not to rub it in......I ask on here all types of dumb little questions before I have anything done by me or a shop.

the outer tie rods cost $15 a piece, you could put them on in a couple minutes. the balljoints are $35 a piece but are a pita. you could have got ford racing lower a arms with new bushing for $200.00

but besides that....go back to the shop and question them tell they crack. get the rusty one replaced? they might say it was new when it was replaced....I highly doubt one side to look totally different for another.

Hey how long ago was this done because from the looks of it both tie rods are old. One is worn out and if you look at the top of the other one is that......rust? on the threads. Should take at least a couple of weeks or months before rust on the threads is visible in picture. Hit them up about both......bring a club I hate crooks.

I went there a little while ago but the owner wasnt there. I left my number, but I'm going to go back now.

recker89gt, you just posted a thread. If you want to post pictures, you have to upload your pics on the net by using a website such as www.putfile.com.

regardles of them being from different companies. ask them why would they sell you a chitty outer tierod for $75.00 then have it rust up. demand it replaced.

I am with gruvee. I have a hard time believing that either are new, and at $75/pop. You had better go to the cops cause you just got abused. <----I don't mean that literally, just figuratively.

I couldn't get in touch with him, he wasn't there. I could have gone back, but wanted to get this all out of my mind. When I talked to him on the phone earlier, he told me that they were new, and that the stock tie rods did not have grease fittings on them, but these new ones do. I have to work at 330 tomorrow, so I dont know if I will have time to go there... is there a chance that these are actually new? I know that I just got ripped off with the prices of the parts and it makes me very upset because I don't have a lot of money. Im only 18 and go to college... I kinda just want to forget about this all. I guess I learned my lesson... DONT LET ANY ****ER WORK ON YOUR CAR!!! Im sorry for blabbing, thanks for the help guys.

There is no chance that either of them are new if you just had this done. One is weeping old grease and the other one is showing rust. I can double check but I'm pretty sure that my stock and my stock replacements that I'm putting in tonight have grease fittings. There is no excuse for rust on a new part and no way that old separated grease would be runnning out of a new tie rod end.

Well I dont think he will budge... I haven't gone over there because I don't feel like dealing with it. Next time, I will just do everything myself.
