hey guys, i'm new here, looking to buy my first mustang sometime this summer. I had my eyes and heart set on a leftover cobra, but just for the hell of it i drove someone's 2005 gt, i had so much fun with this car. It is so loud stock and it is the first car that put a grin on my girlfriends face. She said she was impressed with the car.

Now my dilemma, i just drove a cobra vert over the weekend, in the 1/4 mile and my first time in the car i drove a 13.20 @ 110.89 mph. Which is great, the car is crazy fast, but stock, the car is not as enjoyable as the 2005? maybe it is the muffled exhaust? I know that the cobra is great to mod, but what about handling?

I saw that the saleen mustang with 19inch wheels and a suspension drop and sways pulled .97g on the skidpad? that's crazy.

Have any of you driven a stock cobra and enjoyed your stang more? Now i'm so confused. I'm going to get a ride in a pullied, intake, exhaust, x pipe cobra this week and we'll see how that goes.

another plus for the 2005, i fit better, much more room inside.

Thanks

No question the '05's are roomier than the last generation Stangs. I am only 6'0" and I was always uncomfortable in my '01.

i'm 6'3 and 280 pounds and hardly fit in the passenger seat in the cobra, i'm losing weight and will be 240 pounds by summer end. I can't find any cobras, this sucks.

Here are a couple of vids of my Cobra on the dyno. Just listen to that whine

Here's a little nudge in the Cobra direction

Stock Pulley
Dyno-Front

Stock H-Pipe and Borla Stinger Cat-Back
Dyno-Rear

I know where a brand new White '04 Cobra Vert is.

oh yeah, forgot to mention that i'm from Canada, i wish i was in the states, there are so many more mustangs available, i don't feel like importing one. I just found out that some guys here (cobra specialists) can adjust the seat rails or brackets to make me fit better, i guess i might be going to the darkside, we'll see. Damn, your car sounds sick, thanks a lot

I sold my 97 Cobra for the 05 GT. I was a little sad since the Cobra never needed a single repair (brakes/clutch/battery/tires only) in the 8.5 years I drove it and the 05s reliability is an unknown at this time. But I do not regret it one bit. I am 6-1 so the extra room is great, but the car is much more refined, other than all out braking I think it out handles my old Cobra in every regard. Acceleration is roughly equal too, the 05 has more torque and lower redline, so the power is simply...different.

If I had an 03/04 Cobra I probably would have kept it, but if you are thinking about a 93-02 Cobra...GET THE 2005!

having had a 97 Cobra and now an 03 Cobra, I highly agree with what is said above.. (except handling on the 99/01 Cobra with their IRS they are quite good, but not sure how much they are better compared to the 05 GT)

but comparing a 03/04 Cobra to the 05 GT, IMHO that's a "no brainer" if you can fit in the Terminator..
