I have a mostly stock '97 gt. What differential and axle does that have, and what gear ratio did it come with stock?

28 spline, but the ratio is on the axle tag. there were 3 available that year- 2.73, 3.08, and 3.27

Thanks. Anyone recommendations on running a numerically higher gear ratio, say a 3.73 or 3.92? Just don't want to kill the top end too bad though.

FRPP 3.73 : if you plan on supercharging or spraying
FRPP 4.10 : if you plan on staying naturally aspirated

There is also an axle code on the left doorjam.

My 97 had 3.08's, and Im happy with the 4.10's now. Made it feel like a different car.

The autos came with the 3.08s.

The 3.27s were an option if im not mistaken

The most common gear changes are 3.73s, 3.90s (for those which can't decide ) and 4.10s
