The PI Crown Vics are only 235 HP with the dual exhaust, so I would think the cams my be different, someone correct me if I'm wrong

Same PI Cams. Intake, Exhaust, and the Mustang gets the Ford HP tune. That's my prime motivation to change cams. Burns me that the same cams are used in the CV's and die at 5200. VT Stang I's have the same hp curve up to 5200, but keep on putting out more power until 6 grand or so.

I was thinking that maybe ford had put some geezer cams in the CV . But it makes sense that they use the same ones in the cv and mustang...saves money

I don't think that CV's are true dual exhaust either. I believe that they're 2-1-2, which doesn't flow nearly as well. Aside from the above mentioned, there’s also the computer tune and not to mention the portly 4300lb weight and different torque converter not putting the same power to the ground.

no CV's are true dual, well as true as a mustang is. there are exhaust manifolds, then pipes with cats, then an H pipe and the mufflers. the single exhaust version has a Y pipe. the CV's with the handling and performance package 239hp and about 278tq. the tune is more conservative than a mustang, more geared to the larger size and heavier weight of the crown vic.
