Difference between 96-98 and 99-04

What does tune have to do with it? You make it sound like the 96-98 were not correctly tuned. They are tuned appropriatly for the components they have. 99+ are not tuned better, they are just tuned for the components they have, which are better. Its a component issue, not a tune issue.

I have Windsor heads on my Romeo block...they are interchangable as long as you get the supporting parts for whatever combo you choose.

but isnt romeo to windsor and visa versa PI to PI? same difference right? i was thinking i'd be harder to go PI to non PI

my stock shortblock is romeo NPI and my heads are Windsor PI, My new combo will be a 4V alum block with Windsor PI heads...thats why they call them Modular. They are all interchangable...it just requires new valve covers or timing covers or longer bolts etc to get some things to work with others.

Ok the shop said they would have the vin # from the 2000 mustang tommorrow, so I should be able to find out whether it was windsor or romeo and a few other things that I have been curious about. The new block does have all the old componets on it, they only ordered a bare block. Does anyone know where I could find a # on the new block that I could use to match up with the vin#?

From what I understand, the '98 was tuned differently then the '97 and '96. Hence, the 10hp advantage.

Ya, I knew the 98' had like 225 while the 96-97 had 215hp, I figured since it was such a small increase in power, they just tweaked the exhaust or something.
