What is the difference in the 3.8l engines from 1994-2004? Why was there such a horsepower increase and if it was because of certain parts, can they be used on a 1994 3.8l? Thanks in advance.

What you want to do is look carefully for the Z38 package. Ford called it that because they wanted to one-up the Camaro Z28, and also after the 3.8 liter engine. They specially modified the 3.8 to put out 380 horsepower, run 12 second 1/4 miles, and still get 35 miles per gallon in the city. Just ask your local car salesmen (or women) for the Z38 Mustang. If they don't know about it, they're ignorant, ask for the manager. :D

P.S. yes I was being a sarcastic smart-a$$.. blame the buzz from the oreo double stuffs I gorged myself on. It was not mean spirited so please don't get all offended.

The REAL answer to your question is, yes there was a big difference beginning in 1999, the horsepower went from 150 to 190. I could research exactly what parts were changed to make this horsepower increase, but I'm too lazy. I think it was the heads and intake.
