Differential cover has slight leak.

I noticed today when I was under my car that my Diff. cover is seeping a little pit of oil from the bottom. I think it is do to me putting the floor jack under the diff to jack up the rear end. Maybe the cup of the jack caught the edge of the cover one time. Im going to put gears in the car soon so its not a big deal. But my ? is...where do you guys put the floor jack in the rear. Today I placed the cup of my jack in front of the diff. cover...onto the cast metal housing. Is this ok...where is the best place?

That's a fine place to jack the car. You've identified the only hazard, which is catching the flimsy aluminum cover.
