Digital Tach Not Working

when i do it when the car is off and the key is turned i can flip through all the test modes and all that...but when i have it on tach0000.0 or what ever when i turn it on....it erases turns into 888888 and then goes to my milage...why is this am i doing something wrong?

hold the reset button down w/ the car in the accessory mode and then contiune to hold it while u turn the car on

or just hold it before u start it and then hold it the whole time u start ur car until the test and everything comes up

still not working.....maybe there is something wrong....everytime i start my car ...my guages go all the way and come back to to zero then back to idle...maybe low battery?

i think thats what they do when it comes into the test mode. ok
1) hold down the reset button
2) continue holding and start the car (holding button the whole time
3) keep holding the button once the car starts until the digital readout says 'test'
