The past few times i've started my car i've been hearing a ringing sort of noise coming from some unidentified place. I think its about 5 dings in a row, followed by a pause and then it repeats. once i start driving, it stops. this has been going on for a while now and started after my car had sat, undriven, for about three months. the noise sounds like it's coming from somewhere inside the dash and no noticeable problems seem to be accompanying it. does anyone have any ideas what this might be and how i can make it stop?

cheers,

Matt

Sounds to me like the Seat belt warning Peizo. If you can find it disconnect it or you can take the fuse out and possibly lose other things associated with the fuse also

I may be dumb, but i'm not stupid, i think, maybe?. it doesn't stop when i buckle up and i don't think i've ever heard a seat belt warning in the past. perhaps it was never working to begin with and is now trying? all i know is that i'll feel pretty daggone silly if you're right. nonetheless, i'll look into it.

cheers,

Matt

What year is your car? Sounds like the air bag "blue box" behind the dash.

The car is a 91 GT. My airbag light was flashing for a while but stopped. About two months later this dinging started. so, assumming it is the airbag "blue box," whatever that is, what can i do?

cheers,

Matt

It is located behind the radio, in that area. It is very obvious once you see it, turquois box. Try unplugging it, and see if the beeping stops.
