Dip Stick Position

I recently replaced the oil pan gasket on my 4.6 and found my dip stick in a strange place (see pic). It Appears that it has a 50/50 chance on going above or below the pick up tube. I would think that this would give different readings of the oil level. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Bill

That is an interesting shot, can't say I've had the oil pan off to check it out. I did change to a replacement dipstick a while back when I learned that Ford had changed the oil fill recommendation on the 4.6 to 6 quarts. I am wondering if the newer dipstick is a little less prone to wedge in there since it seems like it is more of a weight at the end of a cable rather than a flat design? Part number I ordered was F85Z-6750-BA.
