On my 89 5.0, I have BBK Headers and the dipstick is all bent, just barely can get it out. This one doesn't seem to be reading any oil, and my friend said I would need a Ford Racing Dipstick, which is like 20 bucks or more. Is this true, or would a regular dipstick be fine?

A Ford Racing dipstick is bent just like the factory one. In fact all it is is a factory one that has been chromed. I can't see why yours would be so distorted either, most if not all aftermarket headers allow plenty of clearance for the tube. Worst case, try a used one from a yard before you buy new if thats your preference. This way you know it works and that somebody screwed this one up.

Is your oil pan stock? Do you have oil in the pan...?

The factory stick isn't really very accurate. Just make sure that you have 5 quarts of oil in the motor and then remark your stick with a scribe.
