After the weld on my hanger broke off a chunk of my bbk off road h pipe, i bought a new one bbk off road shorty h pipe same unit im taking off. When i put the new pipe in the hangers the pipe didnt line up at the header not even close. Can i cut the hangers off i have longtube headers or will it cause an issue thanks

don't see it causing an issue , but why not cut the hanger and slide it in the rubber and re tack it to the pipe where it should be

We are talking about 20+ year old cars and who knows what could be tweaked as far as frames and other issues. Like the other poster said, just tack on the hanger in the correct position and be done with it.

If you are that unhappy send it back and buy bassani or go to a muffler shop and have them build you one.

I had to have my BBK H-pipe spread about an inch and a half by a muffler shop because it did not line up with my BBK longtubes installed. I cut the hangers off myself to make the H pipe fit better also.

Yes you can but all the stress is now on the header until it hits the muffler hanger....not my preferred method but many do it with no problems.

I usually have to bend nearly every brand hanger to get it to work. One reason I now mainly just fan my own...then it fits my way

Hey Rick good to hear from ya buddy! yup seems like thats all im hearing that the hangers hardly never line whether x or h pipes all brands too. So after making a couple attempts bending the hangers without any luck i got out the high speed cutting tool and lopped them off!. Went together good after that still a real pita on my back for a couple hours on garage floor! Gotta say with longtubes you dont need the hangers the whole system is just as snug if anything it seems like its mounted up higher and nicer than its ever been no leaks im glad its over!

I can't wait for my exhaust nightmare this week. My new set up consists of BBK Long Tubes, a MAC off road H-pipe and a custom cat back exhaust (Pypes Race Pro's and Flowmaster tailpipes).

....I've already started stocking up on the Advil.

get ready lol i lost what time and day it was i was under car so long not to mention i got a bad fn back which is killing me today!!!!!! what a royal pita the whole deal was!!! Really that job is meant to be done on a lift only, two nites in a row on my back for two to three hours SUCKED! the first nite struggling to get the old sheot off then killing myself putting the new one on thinking i could tweek it somehow but reality with the hangers in position the whole frigan thing was more than a half inch off!. Then last nite coming to reality first i cut the hangers down so they are an inch long hoping that would work NOPE! then pull it off and cut the whole dam hanger off now thinking im home free ha ha ha now theres nothing holding the h pipe for ya, i put the back of h pipe on a jack while i fought with the header end then i worked my way back every connection every clamp fighting me along the way. Dizzy and hurtin i climbed out done took the jacks and ramps off put the car on the ground went up in shower came out took her for ride somehow i did a great job lol. Whole thing looks tucked up higher and nicer than i ever had it and my tips ended up being perfect, and car sounds great just alot quieter tho im not overjoyed with. With big leaks at both hanger weld to h pipe locations gave car xtra badasss sound!, problem is you dont even know you are getting leaked or louder it happens slowly so you dont hear it and its on the top of pipe so you dont see it and now i cured the exaust smell getting in my car too with each h pipe leaking at breaking hanger weld right under seats! also i painted all welds with VHT grey header paint to slow the weak link on new h pipe Brian do it on a lift!

Yeah, it's going on the lift. My only saving grace here, is that I'm doing an engine swap at the same time. This way, I'll be able to pull the old engine and exhaust out, set the Long Tubes in place, then lower the new engine down on top of them instead of having to fight with jacking the engine around on the mounts to squeeze the headers in. I did however notice my old mufflers have hangers and my new ones done. I might just cut some rod stock and weld them to the mufflers though. We'll see what it's like when I get under there.
