Disappointed with tunes

My email tune works great as you can see by the last line of my signature.

E-mail tunes are based more or less on a set of parameters which the tuning shop normally sees like gasoline type, purity, octane, all the way to weather, atmospheric pressure of the general area where they conduct their business.

Pinging will usually happen if there are significant variances in any of these variables because the car is tuned to the optimal AFR. I've had an issue with that in the past with Bamachips, I e-mailed Doug and he sent me a new tune no hassle no charge with the timing revised to correct that. No big deal as long as you don't abuse the car while you wait for the tune to happen and drive conservatively as soon as you determine something abnormal going on with the combustion.

Of course going to a tuner (by where you live) and tuning on the rollers will be better but unless you're trying to extract every ounce of performance or rather trying to do a final setup it's not really worth it.

Every car is different. I found with my different tunes that getting a dyno printout and sending it to the tuner helps massively. My brenspeed and bama tunes were all off. But after sending my dyno sheet in, they were all fixed.

I would contact them and have them send you an updated tune. With minor bolt-ons, dyno tunes are generally a waste as you may only get 1-2 additional hp. Also if do decided to get a dyno tune, do your homework first. Perhaps the tuner in your area everyone raves about has a vast knowledge of New Edges, Cobras or lightnings but has limited experience with S197s.

I have a 93 Race tune that Chris Rose at Bama wrote for me and I could not be happier. I have no idea if the tune is "perfect" or not, It sure feels like it is tho.

I fully agree on the email tunes sucking. I hadone from bama and american muscle since I bought my stuff from them, Both was **** and car ran ruff and sound like it wanted to die. So I took to BBR down here in Florida and got a dyno tune and my stuff was way off. I was told that the A/R ratio is to be in the 12.6 - 12.8 ratio and I was running 15.9. They dialed in the stang and it runs strong as ever.
