Disappointing results from P-51 in new 5.0 mustang mag

In the new may issue of 5.0 mustangs and fast fords. They did a fox lake p-51 dyno test on a built n/a car, (heads,cams,full exhaust) The peakhp only a 6 hp gain and peak torque 1 less than factory. The intake also lost horsepower and torque from 2,500 to 5,000 and it was around a 3-6 hp lost in those rpms. It didn't gain any hp until 5,200 rpms and than it was only 4hp. It didn't gain any torque until 4,200 and that was only 2, and than it dropped off again and didn't pick up any more torque until 5,200 which was only 3. This is the best I can explain the results. They didn't put any graphs in the article. They revved the car to 7,000 rpms and that rpms it gains 14hp over what the stock intake made at those rpms.

p-51 intake 327 rwhp and 326 rwtq, before dynos were 321 rwhp and 327 rwtq

I agree. Not only is it:
1.) way too expensive
2.) teh suck gains all around
3.) it's f-ugly as sin

I read that to kinda dissapointing on the other hand though they said on a stock 4.6 it performed better I dont know how true that is. What about the reichard racing intake I know 5.0mustangs and superfords tried that on a 5.4 and it performed respectively.

That's disappointing... but maybe with that much work done, the car would've needed a custom tune for the new intake? A/F ratio could have been thrown way off... maybe, who knows.

Its in the May issue. But I remember fox lake claiming alot more just on a stock motor. I guess we will never have a intake that provides decent gains. The c&l lower plenum is coming out soon we'll see how it turns out.
