I am going to have 4 wheel disc brakes on my 65. They will be front Granada and rear Versailles.

I am looking at this master cylinder kit.

Or do I need this one? It says it needs conversion lines for 65-66, but I don't know what lines they speak of since they aren't in the catalog.

I am also looking at this brake line kit.

I am also looking at this proportioning valve.

Will this work with my setup?

I went with the mustang steve 08 gt fronts, 2000 c/v rear and a 91 fox body m/c w/ adjustable proportioning valve to dial in the rears. pretty simple setup, haven't driven car yet, so no results on effectiveness.

tx65coupe, don't know where you're located, but you can come look at the versailles rear end on my '67 if you're near Houston.

If i were you, I'd seriously reconsider using the Versailles brakes unless you got a killer deal on them (and even then...). Stopping power isn't all that good and pedal effort with the manual brake setup is really high. Right now I'm researching options to upgrade, likely starting with a power booster and then Explorer or CV brakes in the rear...

Anyways, Mustangs Plus has the master cylinder needed. It's 15/16 bore MC. You can likely source it from another place - that link you provided above for "4 wheel disc master" may be correct, but hard to tell without the bore size.

As far as the center line. I've got a Versailles brake line on the axle itself and used an adapter (NAPA part #7828) to connect it to the factory '67 brake lines.

I have been considering upgrading my Versailles rear discs while I still have the rear out of the car but there seems to be a bit of conflicting information as what works and what doesn't. I would like to stay with Ford parts if I can and as far as I can tell, the Explorer discs are the closest to being "bolt in". I unfortunately cannot nail down the year span of Explorers to snag the brakes off. The Versailles uses the Ford "big bearing" and the crown vic and Mustang housings are all small bearing.
Hoping someone can clarify this so I can start getting parts in order.
David.

Thats alright. I don't mind the hijack. Its all about helping figure things out.

I have all new Lincoln brake parts, so I am going to run them.

I do however need a pair of the rear caliper hoses though. They don't seem to be available anymore. They have been on back order everywhere I have looked for nearly a year now.

I am going to check with a local company and see if they can redo the old hoses I have and use the original fittings.

Thanks for the offer to come look at yours, but I am located near Austin. If I have issues with mating things up, I may be interested in driving down your way.

I looked up that part number on NAPA's website and it didn't return any results. What type of adapter is it? Is it a size issue or is it a slightly longer peice of metal line to compensate for the short Versailles hose?

I just emailed them to find out what the bore size is on that master cylinder. The one from Mustangs Plus looks like it is only setup for one line to come off of it instead of 2. It looks like it could have 2 lines but has a plug of some sort instead of a fitting.

It's got 2 lines. I think the fitting / plug in the picture may be an adapter to get the thread to the right size for factory lines, but I could be wrong. Just know it's got 2 lines (1 per bowl).

The c/v rear setup is practically a bolt on conversion..as noted earlier, i used parts from a 2000 c/v. Being that our cars don't weigh anything close to a c/v, these rears should be just fine for daily/occassional use.

O'Reilly's carries the brake hoses, calipers, pretty much everything (except e-brake cables... :()

O'Reilly Auto Parts - Shopping

As far as the adapter goes, it's possible the number changed as that was nearly 10 yrs ago now. I'll have to look under the car to see what is actually under there...

If you need E brake cables I got some Raybestos cables from RockAuto. I also got new calipers etc from them. They had the best price on calipers, but the core was expensive luckily I had all my old Versailles and Granada calipers to send back.

I am having trouble locating a pair of rear outer hoses. I'm refering to the short ones that go one the calipers. They have the little bracket/mounting tab that mounts to the axle tube on the rear end.

They seem to be on backorder everwhere I look. I have been trying to located a pair of them for almost a year.

I was under the impression that the c/v brakes were for the small bearing rear housings llike were original to Mustangs. The OP and myself are running the Versailles rear which uses the large bearings. I stand to be corrected though if someone I haven't found yet does make a kit for this app.
David.

Hey there. Those outer hoses are like hens teeth. Mustangs plus advertises them but they are listed at $56.95 each. I never checked with them to see if they actually have them in stock. I used braided stainless hoses. I got a pair of hoses and all of the fittings I needed for $61.

Where did you get your braided hoses? I wouldn't mind going with that.

I checked with Mustangs Plus and they don't have them. All their catalog shows is the center hose. I emailed them and they said they were not currently able to get them.

I had found these guys online.

Index-- American Street Rod

I used (2) each of these items:
977522 - 7/16" 24 Single Banjo Bolt w/washers
989543 - Brake adapter 3 to 3/8" 24 I.F.
63011612 - 3 St / 7/16" Banjo 12" hose

The only problem I had was with my rebuilt calipers. My banjo bolts would not screw into the calipers. All I had to do was chase the threads in the caliper with a tap (that had to be special ordered).

I haven't run any fluid through it yet but it all hooked really well.
