disk brake swap on a '65

i was wondering if '94+ Mustang brakes could be put on a '65 Mustang. what would be needed to do the swap if possible, also would a 94+ 8.8 rear end bolt up to this chassis?, or would there need to be some modification? One more question if anyone knows, would a newer model T-5/T45 fit the old 302?(if i'm not mistaken '65s came only with the inline 6? or maybe the 289 as an option but not the 302?) i think its got a swaped engine in there and it looks like it may be a 302, its got a 2 barrel carb on top. what bell housing would be needed to make this manual swap in there, its currently got an auto. Thanks.

my 2 cents

SN95 brakes on a '65. I've never seen them. You'd have to fabricate brackets. I'd recommend something easier (Kelsey or Lincoln). You could also run into wheel clearance problems.

The 8.8 has completely different brackets as the original 8" (or 9") rear diff. I think it also is longer. I'd stay with the old style unless you can do the fab work.

The 289 was in the '65. The old style 289 and 302's all interchange. The newer ones are different. I'd recommend getting the numbers off the block to see what you have. Is it a AOD or C-4 tranny?

A 302 will bolt right in. You need to find out what year it is. The older 302 have a hook-up for the clutch Z-bracket. The new ones don't. They also have different bellhouses. You should decide on what tranny first.

You can fit a T-5 into a '65. You'll need the different parts (Mustang Plus has them). You will also have to bang around the tunnel for clearance. You see alot of these (5th gear is nice and allows a lower rear gear). The T-5 is much lighter than a toploader.

Good luck :nice:
