The other day I noticed my distributor was making a moaning sound at startup, once it is warmed up some the noise went away. I researched under "Distributor" and it seems that distributor is on its way out based on others with similar problems. There seems to be a split between Stock vs Aftermarket distributors (i.e. MSD, Mallory etc). I'm leaning towards purchasing a stock replacement distributor. Some of the posts said that NAPA and Autozone has a rebuilt distributor. I called NAPA and other part stores and they the can get all but the COBRA distributor.

1. What is the difference between the GT and Cobra stock distributors? I am pretty sure there is no difference between the Cobra and GTs distributor but the part stores books says there is . Plus MSD list the same P/N for 94-95 cars. I will call Ford tomorrow and see if there's a different part listing for the 2.

2. Anybody here with a COBRA replace their distributor with a stock replacement? If so, where did you get the distributor? Was the part the same as the GTs

Note: These part stores are killing me with this Cobra, GT thing because I now there is no real differences except for a few items.

Thanks

Agreed with Justin.
It was smart to ask for confirmation.
