Was looking into going with the Duraspark dizzy/HEI module setup. I can get a free dizzy from an "85 GT. Would I need to swap gears and if so what's involved in the process?

If your present motor has a roller cam, and you're positive the 85 GT dist came from a roller cam motor, then no gear swap would be necessary. Otherwise if your motor has a flat tappet cam and the 85 dist has a steel gear, then you'll need to swap the gear to a cast one.

Sorry, it's a 289. Is it pretty easy to swap gears? Where can I get one?

I think the shafts are different diameters. Was this 85 GT a stick or auto? If you're 100% sure it came from a roller motor, do you want to sell it?

If it's a junkyard dizzy, maybe I could just swap you one (junkyard duraspark with cast gear).

I've done two gear swaps , they're not hard to change, just takes a little time and patience. If I were you, I'd just sell the duraspark, and buy a Pertronix unit for your present dist. Only two wires to hook up and with a good hot coil ( like the Pertronix Flamethrower coil ) and a good set of wires, your dist will work fine. I use just such a setup on the 331 stroker in my 89 Ranger. Works great up to 7500 rpms.

I was just looking into this setup because it would be cheap and reliable. Looks pretty easy to setup too. carbedford.com/tech/HEI/hei.htm

Yea, that looks to be the cheapest, easiest setup to wire in. I don't know why so many people do the duraspark conversion when this is easier. I have wanted to try it for some time, but I'm not sure it will be any better than the Pertronix setup I have now. People on the carbdford forum that have switched from duraspark said that they noticed an improvement.
