So Im replacing my passenger side head gasket on my 2001 Cobra and I dont have the oem ford camshaft holder to hold them in place. Instead of dishing out $300.00 I decided to give it a go with parts I had laying in my garage. If you have any questions or need help just ask.
This is what we are trying to build:

Difficult level= 1 out of 10.
Materials needed:
(1) piece of wood (oak or red wood)
(4) 1/4 x 3'' bolts/washers/nuts
(1) piece of fencing flat metal bar (used to hold fence together)
(1) piece of rubber mesh used to line tool boxes
(1) Glue Gun and glue
(1) Sand Paper
(1) spray paint
Tools Needed:
Drill + Wood and Metal Bits
Hack Saw
Skill Saw
scissors
(1 1/4) wood bore bit (for camshaft holes)
Measuring tape
1. I took a measuring tape and a piece of cardboard to the heads to measure the length and diameter of the camshaft.
2. I made a template with the cardboard.
3. Marked the piece of oak wood and drilled 2 camshaft holes accordingly with the 1 1/4 flat wood bit.
*Note holes are slightly bigger than camshaft. Mesh will more than compensate for this and have more of a gripping effect**
4. Next I drilled the (4) vertical holes for bolts 2 on each side of the cam shaft holes.
5. Took my skill saw and cut the wood in half and in sections accordingly.
6. Cut some mesh and hot glued it into place.
7. Aligned bolts and drilled 4 holes in flat metal fence piece.
8. spray painted and tweaked accordingly for fitment on heads.
