DIY rear window defroster?

anyone done this? is there a way to do it? it's impossible to see out my rear window when it's so fogged up, so i'm looking for a solution or something relatively cheap for a makeshift rear defroster.

this guy is smoking crack and is insane if he thinks he's going to get that much for one of these NOS or not. i have 2 that i got on ebay and didn't pay more than 45 bucks for either of them, in fact one of them i only gave 20 bucks for. just have to keep an eye out for them. use the search term "rear defogger" or just "defogger"

does that just mount in the package tray?

yep. it doesn't heat the air just blows air on the window. the grid style defroster is possibly more efficient, especially if you have ice or snow on the window but this has the benefit of being an original factory option. could also have been dealer installed as well.

ive installed one of those deals from whitney for a fellow who brought it into my shop, and wouldnt take no for an answer... what a joke! it worked, but what an aborted monster it was! if i recall, ( it has been a couple years) you get the grid, which you cut to width, and wrap the ends of the filament wires around a positive and a negative conductor. one goes to ground and the other to a switch. maybe one of the hot air defroster types mounted under the package tray ducted up onto the window?
