i had a similiar thread about the same noise but i have a different idea. it sounds just like a turbo whine, pretty much. it goes with the rpm though. i put a new induction tube on and changed out the serpentine belt for a new, different style (the one with the "notched" grooves). i took it for a drive and immediatly heard this whining sound. i thought it was the intake but i couldnt hear any areas on it that made the sound. the sound seemed to be coming from the center/front of the engine. my question is, can a belt cause this type of noise? i tried belt dressing but it seemed to make it worse i'd try putting my old one back on but i dont have access to it right now.

Check your idler and tensioner pulleys. I had the same problem and it kept getting worse with time, , I went through 3 belts and the same result, so take caution and check the pulleys, or you could be looking at and expensive fix, down the road. The idler pulley runs about 20.00 at Autozone, and the Tensioner w/pulley runs around 52.00 or 59.00 cant remember.

i have the same belt, its true it does make a whine, i have had many others mistake it for a SC whine.

Belt Whine

Yup-noticed the same noise when I put a Gatorback belt. It seems to have gone away with time. It never was loud enough to be a problem though. I would stay away from belt dressing on serpentine belts-supposed to be a big no no. If it's any consolation, Gatorbacks are supposed to be the best belt.

Cogged (toothed) belts whine. Know the "blower whine" that you hear on the 6-71 old school type hot rodder blowers? Most all of that whine is the blower belt. It's normal. Similar principal to 4x4 tires roaring down the road.
