i had my 89 5.0 in the shop getting a new water pump put in. and ever since I got it back the tranny will some times whine in 1st gear almost like a blower will whine. it also wants put pull to the right. it will always pull to the right and then whine a little. once im in 2nd or 3rd it will stop and go back to normal. the tranny has 170k miles on it so It could be going out, but it seems to me to be like a bad tranny mount bushing. when I got the car back the engine compartment also had dirty/muddy water splattered all over it. do you think they many have taken my car out on a joy ride and messed up my car?

When you say it pulls to the right you mean the shifter is leaning? A transission cannot make the suspension pull. A poly tranny mount wouldn't be a bad idea. Saying it wines, that is usually not a good sign. As far as them taking it for a joy ride vs a test drive is hard to tell.

no I mean the whole tranny pulls to the right. and then it whines Ifigured it needs a new mount/ bushing and was rubbing aginst some thing (whining) But i was told by another mustang guy that his tranny whined like mine before it blew.

Well the a "quick" rev or leaning on the gas will usually torque the engine (with your trans/bellhousing attached to the engine)...and make your shifter move over (attached to trans)...mine does it to the right...

I'd be willing to bet (if your tranny wasn't whining before)...that they took it for a "hard" test drive...I would ask them about it...

im not sure what is going on, but im with Jason. i would inspect the motor and trans mounts. if you have a mechanical fan, if you notice the fan blade is very close to the bottom of the shroud, that is a sign of a toasted mount. if it is separating, the motor will rock more than it should. also note that your 89 should not have come with captured mounts - if it separates, it actually can separate. if you get mounts from a parts store, ask for mounts for a 93 (or vert mounts - they are captured).

and a poly trans mount is about 20 bucks - sounds like a good thing to try.

good luck.
