i am still having a problem with my top end. a few months ago i put a set of
e7 heads on the engine and it ran like crap. i put the same heads on a different motor and it still runs like crap. i have to choke and pump the gas 2 times to start it up and it won't run without the choke almost closed. even still it runs bad. it will not rev up at all and it blows a flame out the carb sometimes when it dies. the timing is set at 10 and the wires are on correctly. it is in time and not 180 out. i had a bad vacuum leak between the intake and heads on the other motor which is why i swapped motors. it is acting the same although i can't get it to run long enough to check for vacuum leaks with ether. it only runs for 5-10 seconds. my question is can a bad valve job make this happen. what do you think is the problem here. i am going to double up some intake gaskets tomorrow to see if it fixes it. if not i am going to borrow another intake in case i got a warped intake. i have the lifter preload set correctly also.
