Hey guys this may seem like a real stupid question but do the ball and socket flanges on our exhaust pipes use any sort of doughnut gasket? I would think the metal on metal wouldn't seal perfect but I have no idea. I am finishing buttoning up my xpipe and want to know if I should find some gaskets for it. Thanks.

I've never seen any. Usually they just tighten up enough to seal. I know the 4.6 cars had a gasket for one of the header flanges where it meets the H pipe, but that was because it wasn't a ball and socket type flange.

no gaskets, thats what the ball-and-socket joints are there for. just tighten up the bolts good and even on both sides and youre good.

You can put some black RTV on it if you want to. I am thinking about it on mine, cause I cant seem to get it just right. Have a buddy that has always done it, and never had any burning issues or anything.

Little coat of grease works good for sealing them
