I have a stock upper and lower intake, the lower has an E6 part number, I know the 86 and 87-93 intakes are different but is it just the upper that is different or is the lower different too? I might have the lower sold, so I need to know asap! The upper has the HO under where the plate would be, so it's a 87-93 right? It dosent have the E7ZE part number though. These stock intakes are confusing.

The 86 engine was a HO, and visibly, the intakes from 86, and 87-93 look identical. The plate may have a slight different design, but it's still going to say HO.

The only difference between 86 intakes and 87-93 intakes are the upper. The 87+ uppers are 60mm, vs 86, which are 58. Lowers are identical

Yes, there are a few different versions.

My '88 had an E6SE lower intake. I just took a peek at it. However, around 1990 or 1991, there was a slight revision to the lower

This is a picture of a '91 Lower intake (and a GT-40 lower) This intake is one of the new revisions with a slight change in tha part number. Only differernce i can see from the E6SE intake is the webbing between the intake runners on the outer edge. I don't have a pic of the early E6 intake, but i have both in my possession and this is the only difference i can see

Also, there are at leasy three different upper intake manifolds. There is the E6 version, the larger E7 version, and i have an intake off a 1991 5.0 with an F0 part number meaning a 1990 revision. I guess maybe the lower and upper were revised in 1990. I cannot see a difference in this intake though compared to the E7 version

I had sent Tom Moss several differnt lowers, Some were 86 & some were 87-93 He said they have subtle differnces but the runners are the same on 86-93 stock lowers.

Upper plenum is the only substantial difference between the 86 and 87-up intakes that I know of.

The lowers are all the same - BUT, they were supplied by 3 different suppliers and have a different casting appearance. Their casting mark is on the rear drivers side - ALCAN (above pic), SAC and CAE
