Do these nubers seem WAY to LOW

I installed a Vortech S/Q Mongoose Kit from MPH on my 2004 Mustang GT and I only put down about 300 rwhp at 8# :notnice: . This is on an auto with 4.10, O/R X and Catback. It was on a dynojet and the weather was perfect. My a/f was at about 11.9-12.0. Dosent this seem awfuly low or is that about right for an auto. We were all thinking it would dyno 320-330. We hooked up a boost gauge to it and it was making almost nine at 6200 rpm.

Thats seems pretty low to me. I'm shooting for about 360-375rwhp when i bolt mine up in the winter, but i'll have 75mm TB, Plenum, Powerpipe, LT's, and 3.73's, which won't throw my numbers off as much as your 4.10's. Hopefully i'll be underestimating :nice:

im far from an expert, but those do seem a little low....maybe its cuse you have an auto?

Did you ever have it dyno'd when it ws stock?

Take her to the track and see what she can do out there....

seems low to me even for an auto. thats only 10 hp more then me, i would expect to get spanked by an auto with a vortech. i think there is somthing wrong. however, the take it to the track idea is right. see what the car does there, maybe the dyno was off or somthing. how does the car feel?

Steeper gears do lower your dyno numbers a bit - especially on autos cause you have to use 3rd and its even shorter than forth on a manual. Its not enough to explain your low numbers though. I'd definately be disappointed.

3rd gear in an auto = 4th gear in a manual = 1:1. 4.10s might make you show a few less ponies on the dyno, but not enough to make you worry. Through a manual, your engine is putting out ~319hp to the wheels, which does seem a little low compared to other 5spd vortech PI GTs... and that is approaching the #s a NPI 4.6 would be making. Now that I think of it though, I thought BennyDaBall was only putting down about 330 with his mongoose kit.

Post the graphs. Did you make any adjustments to the fuel trim with the Xcal2? Could be the a/f at the dyno is off/needs recalibrated - 11.9-12.0 is on the lean side for a safe tune.

hey didn't your car dyno pretty low at first, but then you fixed it? what was the problem? i made reference to you in my first post but now i see your numbers are back up to par. Sick car btw benny, your car is pretty much where i wish mine was at

well it may seem a little low. remember a dyno is for tuning. Take it to the track and run it.
But I've talked to lots of dyno owners. Doesn't seem uncommon for a pi auto to be in the 200rwhp range, 5spd in the 210-220 range stock.

Well I havent been to the track yet with it but I have a g-tech which I used before I added the blower and I ran 14.3x with someone in the car with me on a hot day. I did it at the same place after the blower with the same weather conditions, a full tank of gas, and 2 people in the car with me and picked up a second running a 13.3x. Today I took it out on the same road alone in cooler weather and ran a 12.83. It seems like its making good power but the dyno tells different.

mine dyno'd @ 330 (manual)....I believe a lot of people who get more out of the mongoose kit alter the SCT program to give more timing....I haven't done so yet....plus I'm only seeing a max of 7#'s of boost...there are quite a few places to look at to figure out if I have a problem....right now my main goal is to get rid of all my exhaust leak problems...(which keep coming back for some reason)

I made 335rwhp on my first pull, second pull I leaned it out 4% and made ~347rwhp, third and fourth I made 357 and 364rwhp leaned out 6%. A/f was SUPER rich on the first pull. And thx :nice:

04YELLOWGT: I asked Tim@MPH about upping the boost a while back and he told me 3.3" pulley is the limit for non-intercooled Mongoose tune when used with the MPH 4" boost pipe. I see 11.5PSI peak now; anything over that and you'll be just asking for detonation without an intercooler, plus non-intercooled more boost over around those levels will rob power due to excessive heat. So yeah, get your A/F checked again, and make them recalibrate the wideband to open air before they do the runs - or invest in a quality wideband O2 setup and do it yourself (still should be done on a dyno though).

Oh yeah, and get the Reichard Racing pulley. They have little slits in them so they are light and also mine (3.3") grips so well I haven't had to change the belt from the one supplied with the vortech kit!

Also so you think that their A/F "gauge" might be off becaus thats what me and someone else was talking about. So it might actually be running super rich.

The car does drive fine though there are no problems there other than in the mornings it takes me about two times to start it.

Yeah, I have the same two start thing. I think its just because the blower adds drag to the accessories + the extra volume of oil or some junk like that lol :flag:

It is a possibility that their A/F was off, but that doesn't mean you should just lean it out (just incase...cuz that could mean BOOM for your motor if they weren't wrong hah). Where did you go for the dyno? It was a DynoJet right? IBtw, if it was a MustangDyno your numbers are right on... If you wanna try another place I would reccomend Automotive Specialists (AutoSpec) in Noblesville, it's a bit of a drive but the guys there are pretty cool and gave me some tips even though I just payed for dyno time (plus they opened up on a saturday morning just for me lol).
