Everybody knows how crappy the stock altenator is on the 5.0's up to 93. Well I was going to do a 3g swap or the 160amp swap I was lookin at. But my question is do you think the 3g alt will make enough power to run my headlights, stereo, and a neon kit. All this is out of the question with the altenator I have now because I cant stop at a red light at night time and keep just my radio turned up or it will distort and cut off . But anyone with 3g experience that can run this or anyone that knows if it will your input is appreciated.

ive got the 3g 160amp? PA Performance alternator.. and even stopped at night with my music on (2 amps, sub, all around speakers, head unit) electric fan on, headlights, brake lights, tach, msd ignition.... it keeps charged higher then halfway. So i think u will love it and it will work great

-Dan

EDIT: it is the 160amp now that im thinking...

NEON KIT!!!!!! are you serious????? How could you demean such a fine auto of americana and add neon???Make sure the neon matches the windshield wiper boot covers and wipers. And don't forget the big ass alumi wing and euro light lenses, and the vinyl has to match the neon, and mirror tint gotta have it to accentuate the neon.. I just must believe neon+mustang=ha,ha,ha,ha but if you are doing it strictly for HP gains I undestand. Neon= 20-30HP(dyno tested) and helps launch too but must be used with "NIKE" windshield sticker to get the best traction. Very few people know these secrets and thats good otherwise everybody and thier mother would have these high performance improvements only and all these performance places would be out of the biZ..... No just kidding man but I think these accesses are for import vehicles with the odd exception and the stangs just don't need that to look good. Like liv tyler she dont need to be all dolled up shes just plain pretty and there are many better examples. Where is the neon on the car underneath, or on the windshield. Again just kidding.

It should run them okay with underdrive pullies. I have the 3G alternator with underdrive pullies and it powers almost everything at idle. You can't put on every single thing, however. But then again, when are you going to use the defrost and AC at the same time? Make sure you use a 1 7/8" pulley on the alternator though.

Good luck.

PA performance 3G alt plus 4 gauge wire/fuse is the best. However, I would give mine away for a date with Liv Tyler

Seriously, I was looking at the load test that came with mine and it produced 90 amps at 800 rpm's!!! Ditch the neon....ditch the amps...the entertainment system is under the hood!

yeah I know that the neon is a bit much but i gotta have my loud sound system. And to 85GTlover apparently you didnt look on the winshield of my car that says IMPORT EATER. But most of my friends have neons and I like the way they look as long as you hide the bulbs. But dont worry I havent forgot about the motor guys!
