No. The thread size and pitch may be similar size but the NPT is a tapered thread that seals by "interference fit".
AN {Army/Navy I think} is a straight thread that requires a seat to seal. I'm not positive but I think the seat angle is 45 degrees on an AN fitting. It's been a few years since I've sold hydraulic power parts!
The flare angle for AN and hydraulic fittings is 37 degrees. Don't try to cheat and use a 45 degree automotive/plumbing flaring tool or you'll get leaks.
