Does any one have 4.10's and know the top speed?

Assuming stock tire size:

Speed with 4.10's in 4th are as follows: 5500 rpm = 102.49 mph, 5750 rpm = 107.15 mph, 5800 rpm (redline) = 108.08 mph, 6000 rpm = 111.80 mph, 6250 (fuel cutoff) = 116.47 mph.

So...speed at REDLINE in 4th gear is 108.08. If you're claiming your REDLINE is at 103 mph, then you got something wrong or your speedo is offa hair. Don't believe the numbers?

You can't hit it at the track, and you've got NO business running 150 down the highway. IF you're worried about topspeed, I hope a tree quickly jumps in front of you and saves anyone else from your misery.

Top speed is for nothing but bragging rights. You can take a rice burner and get it to hit 140 mph on an oval track after about 15 mins with the pedal to the floor. But it aint saying s h 1 t about the performance of it. I just upped from 3.73's to 4.10's. Waiting to get the car back to see how it feels and what it will run.

However, my heads and cams are good for up to 7K rpms, and with over 300 to the wheels, I am sure I could top it out in the high 150's or better. If I wanted to spend the time at an oval track that is.

All you need to know is that 4.10's are for cars running less than 107-110 in the 1/4, and 3.73's are for those that are running faster. You wanna run through the traps at or near redline.

Ok, next question:

I drive a lot of highway miles, what rpms are you usually cruising at, 60mph in 5th gear? That's really the deciding factor for me (and the reason I wanted to know how fast you could go top end ... would affect the rpms down low).

I wouldn't compare your "top speed" at red line on a dyno to top speed on the track/street (real world). Lot's of room for error with dynos.

That would have been a more easily answered question than asking about the top end I believe 5th gear at 65 is about 2350 rpms, from what I have heard, maybe a hair more.

Ok everyone, fight nice!

In theory, 4.10's should have a lower top end than 3.27's. That is a scientific fact. Think about it. RPMS are higher with 4.10s than with 3.27s. In reality, 4.10's have a higher top end because of the power band, right?

There are three reasons why some of you are posting different top speeds:

1 - Your speedo's are not calibrated correctly for you tires.

2 - Speedos are all off by 1-3% anyway.

3 - You have different sized tires which affect your final drive ratio as much as the gears do.

So, with that said, Car A may have tires that are 2% larger than car B. and car B speedo might be off low by 2% than car A. The error is 4 mph at 100 mph.

I hit a hair over 160 DTC indicated, so no speedo error. I had 260 rwhp/303 rwtq, and it took probably 4 miles or so to reach that speed, and that was coming from 145 or so. Held it at top speed for about ten miles (only about 3 1/2 minutes or so) and then dropped back to cruise at 145. So with some more power over stock, a couple people in the car to keep it snug to the road, and the right highway, anyone should be able to hit over 150 with stock gears at least.

Don't forget that in addition to power, torque, tire size you have the issues of vehicle weight and distribution, aero drag, and suspension. That is the biggest problem with these sites that offer you physics calcualtions...they don't take everything into account.

Stop worrying about top speed...you need to identify your driving style and base your decision on that. If you do a lot of high speed freeway driving (75+) get the 3.73s...if you are at the strip a lot or you like to play around with the F-bodies at traffic lights go for the 4.10s or maybe even 4.30s.

Does any one have 4.10's and know the top speed?
