This may sound dumb but I am looking for a trailer hitch receiver for my 99. I need it for a bike rack. I ride on trails and I need a way to transport my bike. I dont want a rack that hooks on to the truck I want to get a receiver style. I just wondered if any one as put a hitch on their stang and where they got it or where a good place is to get one? I saw 02 GT pulling a jetski a couple weeks ago so I know they make something for the Mustang. Thanks

I think you want a Reese hitch, Type I.

Try this:

I also think Yakima has mounting brackets for the roof and then connected with crossbars and the bike rack mounts to them. Go to Yakima.com. then click on choose your rack. Put in your year and model then click next. Don't worry about the next step just click on 2" hitch and click next then it will ask if you want to carry your gear on the top of your car and so on.

Sweet.

I've been wanting to get a setup similar to this one, so I can take DRs to the track while driving on the street tires:

http://www.robsherrard.com/will.html

It'd also be useful to haul along tools on the back on the way to the track as well. Take it off in your spot and go race!

Dude, that is BAD A$$! :nice: I'll be getting one of those SOON. Won't have to rely on someone else to drive the slicks or DR's to the track for you.

I have a hitch installed on my 01' GT, I used to tow around my Jetski. I'm sure you could call U-Haul or some other company and have it installed for under $200 at least that's how much they were qouting a couple of years ago. I'm sure inflation couldn't make it much more. I had mine done for about $150, thats installation and all parts.

Yeah that is cool. I would get that then fabricate it somehow so you could stand the wheels up side by side with a tube a little smaller than the diameter of the center of your drag radials, then you could just slide them onto the rail and use some type of bolt and nut to clamp them in place from sliding back and forth.

If anyone is interested i have a hitch for sale. It's the hidden type and it will pull a jet ski but i just used it for 2 mountain bikes. I payed $200 for it about 2.5 years ago but it's still in great shape. All i want is $35 plus shipping. Shipping may be more expensive than the hitch because it's kinda heavy. It has a 11/4 inch connection, Let me know if anyone wants it. Oh yea it's off my 2000GT.
