I have a Crane ignition and a MSD blaster coil, at night If I look at the coil their is a blue glow around coil between the inner coil housing and the rectangular magnets on the outside of the coil, where electricity is visible. I thought maybe my coil was bad so I bought a brand new one from Summit racing and low and behold the brand new one does the exact same thing. There is no noise or loud tapping like an arc tap and the car runs well, maybe blaster coils with an igntion tend to leak a little bit, does this seam plausible? I will put back in a factory coil today to try that and see if that one leaks too. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks

I have the same exact thing with mine. Everything works fine no miss, surging of any sort. I will say this i reseached the net for an answer and found one guy who said he called msd and they told him it was normal and they actually test to make sure it's there. Take it for what it's worth but i have no issue as far as running.

Mine doesnt do that, but I always have the powdery residue where the cable connects to the coil, even weeks after I clean it off

Do you guys who use the fox coil wire wrapped 15 times around the coil have issues with this leakage affecting the ignition/coil wire?

This kind of thing would be a selling point to some of the import guys (neon coil).

I wrapped mine around the distributor. No problems here.

Thats normal. Its called a Corona. If atmospheric conditions are right (I think its high humidity but I could be wrong) then you can actually see the electricity from the coil break down and ionize the air around it. This is a common occurrence in any inductive system.

Hes 100% right. If you want I might be able to copy a chapter or two from my electricity and magnetism book I have. I wouldnt wrap the wires around anything though. as it might created an induced current, but they are shieleded so they should be ok.
