Hello, I just recently purchased a one owner 1970 Mach 1, the door vin/data plate is unreadable, however, here is link to a pic with the owner's vin card, does any one know how to decode all the numbers, (I know how to decode the vin), any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Congrats on the new mustang. My dad also owns a 1970 Mustang Mach 1. His dad bought it brand new from the factory. Unfortunately its been setting in the garage for 20+ years. Hopefully here soon were going to start working on it when we get our paint both set up in the garage. What information are you wanting to you with decoding it.

Thanks for replying, I'm trying to figure out which numbers on the card correlate to which codes. I know the 63C means its a Mach 1, I'm just not sure about the other ones.

Here is a link that gives you information about all the codes. You will have to do the work yourself to figure each out. It has the data plate decoder in it.

Thanks for the link, I have no problems doing the work my self, but the way the card is layed out makes it very difficult to figure out which codes are which, trim, paint, axel, etc. Hopefully I'll be able to break it down, and I'm probably going to order the Marti report as well.

That's actually a owner card/warranty identification card.

The fourth and fifth lines are mostly what would be stamped to the temporary owner card.

0R05M108642 A 72
63C 3A 07K 6 5 A

72 = San Jose district sales office
63C = Sportsroof body, Mach 1
3A = Black knitted vinyl interior trim
07K = October 7, 1969 scheduled build
6 = 3.00:1 axle ratio, conventional (non-locking) differential
5 = 4-speed manual transmission
