Does anyone know how to program a 1996 GT keyless entry remote??

I don't think they are in the manual back then.

I reprogrammed my old '95, several years ago. I got the instructions off the 'net, and I believe they were actually for an Explorer of similar vintage.

Basically, from what I can remember, you need to go into the trunk and remove the driver's side liner. You will see the keyless/remote control box, and possibly the factory alarm box. Follow the wiring harness for about a foot and you should find an open connector (nothing plugged into it) with just two pins. Turn the ignition to "on" (don't bother starting). Short those two pins on that open connector together to start the programming mode. There should be a confirmation which is the power door locks, locking then unlocking by themselves. Press one button (any button) on first remote. The car will lock/unlock to confirm. Press one button on the second remote. Wait for confirmation. Turn the ignition to "off" when done. There should be one last lock/unlock confirmation.

WaltA the re-programing instructions were not in my ’98 manual either but your directions on how to re-program the Mustang keyless entry remote worked for me on my ’98 GT. The programing connector with two exposed pins was close to the box on the rear driver’s side trunk area and open with nothing plugged into it… it was easy to locate and re-program two remotes.
