I just got quoted for 4.5 hours of labor at $90 an hour for a price of $405 to install Maximum Motorsports full-length subframe connectors in my 91 notch... my initial reaction was WTF?!??!??

does that sound even close to right to anyone on here??

Trailer with an open center + welder + grinder = free welded up subframes for me .

But that number sounds high. Get quotes elsewhere.

Maybe 90dollors for the total install. It shouldn't take more than a hour to do unless they dont have a lift and need to hire a midget thats really skinny and can weld.

Only reason I could see for possibly justifying that kind of an install cost is if those full-length SFC's are the kind that go through the floorboards, which require removing the seats, carpeting, and stock sound insulation, and then cutting the floorpan.

Otherwise ... no, they're smoking crack. And they're not sharing it, either.

I went in to have a o2 bung rewelded and asked how much to weld in my subframes and they charged me 40$ for the o2 and subframes. I would check exhaust shops, shouldnt take them more than 30mins to do it.

On an aside, if you have the kind of SFC's that can be bolted AND/OR welded, sand or grind off the paint on the parts to be welded, bolt 'em on yourself, and then take it on down there for a quick zapping. Should save you a few bucks, and make it a little more difficult for them to screw it up.

Also, make sure you go to a shop that uses a drive-on lift, not a frame lift. You want the weight to be sitting on the wheels as it would normally sit on pavement when those SFC's are welded, or you could wind up with a funky frame position (hard to open/close doors and such).

yeah i agree with darkwriter. my SFC are bolt on in the middle and weld in the ends. im gonna go to the shop with them bolted on already. you probably gonna save yourself around 10-20 bucks just by spending a few minutes extra under the car.
