Does your car sound bad before it warms up?

I have just added a catted X, and the car doesn't sound nearly as good before it gets warmed up sometimes. I didn't notice this problem with the stock H, but I guess that's because it was so restrictive.

Is everyone else's car like that? What about you guys with an O/R X? I would imagine it is even worse until it warms up.

Mine doesn't sound bad, it sounds bad to the bone. Seriously, in the morning when I crank it up, it sounds awesome, then once it warms up it doesn't sound as good. I think maybe cus it idles rough (lots of lope) when it's cold. I love it, I just can't drive it when the motor is still cold.

My flows actually sound better when the car is cold. Weird i guess.

It's probably because the cold fuel enrichment is allowing a bit of unburnt mixture into the exhaust ahead of the cats where it eventually burns, causing a bit more noise in the exhaust.

It's about the only think I can think of that would cause a different note from the exhaust on a cold engine versus a warm one.

I love the sound of mine on a cold morning. Any other time, you don't hear it so much when starting. But in the morning, it's like it's saying "woohoo time to play". And when I take off, it sounds mean.

Looks like you bought the wrong pipe. All of us o/r h people seem to be in agreement.

Mine sounds kind of rough also, but my blower sounds louder when the engine's cold too....:nice:

But, l since I have an O/R X, I have to hurry and back the car out of the garage because the smell is just terrible.
