I think it's used for some kind of counter weight.

To keep the rear end from vibrating, I think. Seems like I've heard that on here before. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right, it's supposed to stop vibration from the rear end. I took mine off after I got my 3.73s put in and I've never had a problem with vibration. It weighs a lot and it's ugly cause it's all rusty cause it's pure iron, so rip that thing off!

It's the piece that's bolted to the rear end under the pinion yoke. I almost took mine off this weekend when I had my car in the air, but wasn't sure it was a good idea.

Its the piece of rubber that extends from the stock airbox into the fender. I dont think you get much power out of it but it sounds better.

It may help w/ some vibration, but it is mainly for wheel hop. By mounting it in rubber and the extra weight, it makes the harmonic resonance out of the range that rearend normally sees. I would never take mine off, but that is me.

The dogbone is that big 'ole rusting thing in the picture below. It is a harmonic dampener designed to absorb vibrations from the rear end. It is designed to dampen very specific frequencies so if you change gears you will effectively change the frequency of the vibrations in the rear so the dogbone may not be effective any longer.

That's what I thought it was for originally. I can't see it giving much of a performance gain if it's taken off a stock car.
