is it possible, and worthwhile to swap a 5.4 DOHC motor in place of the 2V 4.6? how much heavier are they? i assume there woudl be PCM modifications (if nto PCM and harness replacement).

or would a 4.6 DOHC swap be a better idea? any mods other than the motor swap necessary? when i sell my jeep i was GOING to put some $$$ towards payingoffmy loan, BUT if i can get enough money i might jstu build up a DOHC 4.6 (or stroker?)

My advice, pay of the loan. No sense in staying in debt and building a motor, you NEVER know what will happen with a built motor and you could very possibly burn a piston up and have another 4k in debt right there, BUT, if you really want to build it, why not stick with the 2v head? Whats the point of switching to the 4v head when the 2v's are making PLENTY of power with a blower and ported heads/cams. Just my advice, take it or leave it.

I think its a good idea for the wow factor, but performance-wise, its prolly more work than it's worth. I would stay with a 2v head and maybe just get a stroker kit. This way you can get a stronger block and turn up the boost.

5.4l DOHC FTW

Really a build 5.4 dohc would have so much more low end grunt and top end power compared to a 4.6 sohc it's funny.

im leaning towards picking up an 03/04cobra motor. i LOVE the sound of the DOHC motors, and i see a LOT of terminator guys using stock bottom end, making 600rwhp easily.

BUT, 3 grand for a motor, vs. building a 4.6 or 5.0 SOHC - ill have to research it a little bit. i dotn want to blow all of my $$$ on it. possible to build a forged bottom end for sub-3k? how about with cams/heads? im sure i could find a set of used ported heads for about a grand or less. any links you guys can supply me with? getting toasted by that KB'd C5 vette last night has me wanting more...

Do a forged 4.6L 2V.. but if you want a different motor then get a VT Engines 324ci BB/Stroker.

Our motors have enough stroke as-is, just add some more bore to it!

the 5.4, while nice, takes a load and a half of money to mak the power you will want to with it. its an awesome idea, but you will be in the motor for 7k before power mods... i am not joking. i gave up on the idea once my spec was around 420 RWHP and 17k.... lots of money.
