So I got a set of slotted rotors from TMD for a good price but with my 99 Cobras and Lincoln brakes I needed to remove the ABS disc and remove the studs so I could install 3 inchers to work with wheel spacers. Well I took the stuff to Pro Gear with the Moroso 3 inch wheel studs that say they are for most fords. Pro Gear calls me back in an hour and says the rotor exploded. I go down there and the guy says its from a cheesy rotor but looking at it, its obvious the stud knurl was too large and put too much pressure on the metal. How would someone not notice that!! I dont even know how they got that stud in the hole. So I buy new rotors and they are currently doing them but drilling out the holes first. I call Moroso and they told me they should have checked the sizes before installing because any good shop would double check their work. So I call Pro Gear and they said they just install stuff when customers bring parts in and say put this together. Nobody will take responsibility for my $40 blown rotor, and I'm pissed. Shouldnt they always check the stud knurl before pressing in the studs especially with aftermarket parts. I'm about to go down there and pick up my done rotors and I'm sure it will get ugly. Plus they reused those squashed studs that did go into the rotor, is that normal? Wouldnt the splines be toast? You should see the holes they were forced into, the metal is pushed out. Like I said you should see the holes in the blown rotor. To blame it on the metal is ridiculous. I'll let you know if they take care of me, but in the mean time they are on my crap list!
