I was checking my engine today and i noticed that there is what appears to be oil, in the area behind the Alt on top of the block. I checked my oil level and its hasn't changed. I'm a little nervous about what this could be. Any help is great, i tool a few pics hopefully someone knows what this is.

BTW.. its a 2003 GT, 75,000 miles, auto, and the only mods that i have done to the engine is the CAI. Thanks

Take a picture of the substance and smear it on your fingers. We can get better look. Check around the areas where you normally find oil leaks on top of the engine, valve covers, around the PVC component and hook-ups. Get back to us.

I'd bet you it's coolant. Mine is doing the same thing, and there is actually a small puddle of coolant in the block valley. I can't explain my dislike for the factory intake enough.

Before i left for work today i was able to get a rag down there and clean most of it up. The color was a medium brown like oil (sorry i wasn't able to get a pic). When i got home from work, i checked the area again and there was no collection of any fluids. I'm thinking that when they changed the oil some may have spilled down down there and just sat. I'm going to keep checking the area and hopefully there is nothing wrong. Thanks for the help.

Could be a slow leak. My bet is still on coolant and dirt. Does it smell sweet at all? Next time you notice it get it on your fingers and see if it feels like oil.

Agreed with you on that, but Ford fixed the problem starting in late 01. His 03 should have the aluminum crossover, and I can't think of a reason why his would leak.

Because the whole intake sucks. The crossover helped the recall issue, but the intakes seem to crack anywhere they please once they start to age. I know mine has. It's the plastic crossover and that's about the spot it's least leaking from...
